Step 1: Foundation & strategy

We start diagnostically, drawing on motivational interviewing principles, by understanding what's driven your career and what this role means to you. We analyse historical performance, identify gaps, define strengths and clarify objectives. Then we establish a foundation for the central mindset shift, from reactive candidate to proactive strategist. Using the GROW model as a framework, we establish your goals for the process, assess your current reality and identify the options available to you. We cover the fundamentals — classic mistakes, question types, what great looks like — and introduce the CAR and STAR frameworks for structuring competency examples. You'll leave with a clear strategic framework and written materials to review.

Step 2: Content & examples

We revisit the lessons learned during session one using a strengths-based coaching approach to identify the achievement examples that showcase what you do best. Next, we create a bank of stories that flex across multiple competency areas. Are you landing the results clearly enough? Are you seizing each question as an opportunity or just answering it? The Inner Game principle applies here — we work on quietening the self-critical internal voice that causes candidates to second-guess strong answers mid-delivery. By the end of session two your content is sharp, your structure is solid and your strategic intent is clear.

Step 3: Performance & pressure

The Chimp Paradox framework is at the heart of this session. By understanding how performance anxiety manifests under genuine pressure, we can develop the mental tools to manage it. A structured mock interview starting with a relatively straightforward 20-minute simulation, followed by a review and refine process. The top of the mountain is a demanding multi-phase interview format replicating the most complex of pressured interview situations. At that point you'll have the full package; proactive strategy, strong examples, confident delivery and the ability to steer the conversation without the interviewer noticing.
